On August 13, 1927 aviation hero Charles A. Lindbergh visited Chicago. This photograph, from the Chicago Daily News online collection at the Library of Congress, shows Lindbergh riding with Mayor William Hale Thompson onto the field at Soldier Field. Thompson is turning around and looking to the right of the camera. The Library of Congress did not date the photograph, but a search in the SXU Library's historical Chicago Tribune files found the complete story. |
