• We have celebrated Black History Month in February since 1976!
• Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History founded the precursor to Black History Month in 1925, calling it Negro History Week.
• African-American History Month, the Month's official government page, offers lesson plans, online exhibits, and much more.
