Choosing Databases

Many disciplines are interested in race issues and racism topics.  A general database covering approximately 800 core journals is Academic Search Complete

A broader set of journals can be searched using our interdisciplinary Central Index database. 

Additional subject databases may be located under the Search by Subject column.  The links take you to subject pages listing appropriate databases.  For serious research you may want to search a number of different subject indexes.

 

Peer Reviewed Articles

Many of our databases allow you to limit your search results to peer reviewed articles by checking a box.

Racism

Step 1.  Start your basic search on racism like this:

Step 2.  Limit the large number of results by using the Refine Results options in the left column.  Perhaps start by limiting to the United States.

Then skim the other options for terms close to your interests.

Step 3.  Examine the results for more keywords and reenter your search.  For example, if this article sounds interesting, try using the appropriate subject terms.
