Finding Books Worldwide

FINDING BOOKS FROM SOURCES BEYOND OUR BOOK CATALOGS

DO NOT START YOUR BOOK SEARCH IN WORLDCAT.

Almost all of the material you desire can be found through a search within our CARLI I-Share consortium. You will have immediate access and longer loan periods from our local catalog and our I-Share partners. In addition, our staff will simply re-direct any WorldCat requests that are also found in our local catalogs back to you. This will create an even longer delay, and you will still need to request the item yourself.

Start all searches in our local SXU book catalog.

If you do not find the desired material, expand your search into the I-Share consortium catalog, which covers 91 academic libraries within the state and provides 2-3 day book delivery. Select the "All I-Share Libraries" from the options that appear below the search box when you enter your search terms.

ONLY if these catalogs do not have the item you desire, should you expand your search into thousands of other book catalogs using the Worldcat database.

NOTE: Expect significant wait times (at least a week) when you make ILL requests for these materials that are not owned within our network.

NOTE: Do NOT search for journal articles in WorldCat; use our journal index databases to find journal articles.
