Racism and Race Relations

Choosing Databases

Many disciplines are interested in race issues and racism topics.  A general database useful for many subjects is Academic Search Complete.  For more advanced searching, think about who would be interested in your topic and select the disciplines under the Search by Subject column.  The links take you to subject pages listing appropriate databases.  Do not be surprised if you search several different subject pages.

Peer Reviewed Articles

Many of our databases allow you to limit your search results to peer reviewed articles by checking a box.

Step 1.  Start your basic search on racism like this:

Step 2.  Limit the large number of results by using the Refine Results options in the left column.  Perhaps start by limiting to the United States.

Then skim the other options for terms close to your interests.

Step 3.  Examine the results for more keywords and reenter your search.  For example, if this article sounds interesting, try using the appropriate subject terms.
