Borrowing
The SXU Library can obtain many books, journal articles and other materials from libraries around the country at no charge. You must submit requests through the WorldCat Local interface. Once you find the items you want, just click on the request buttons and follow the simple instructions for creating an account and logging in. You will order items either through I-Share or Borrow from other Libraries.
The SXU Library (like most academic libraries) uses two similar, but different systems to get materials for you. I-Share and Borrow from Other Libraries use two similar, but different login procedures. I-Share is a network of over 75 academic libraries throughout Illinois (and includes SXU). These libraries collaborate by using their own borrowing and mailing system. If books are available in I-Share, you will use the network to order. It usually takes no more than two business days to get the book ordered through I-Share.- log in to your I-Share account
- log in to your Borrow from Other Libraries account
Please Note: The lending library, not the SXU Library, determines what may be lent. Due to cost, high demand, or rarity, many libraries will not lend out textbooks, audio-visual materials (including DVDs), materials for reserve, group, or extended use, and archival or rare materials, theses or dissertations.
Need Help? Call 773-298-3353 or e-mail the Interlibrary Loan staff if you have questions about the borrowing process or your order.
