Do you want to know more about the companies Facebook and Twitter? Search in Standard and Poor's NetAdvantage.

What do today's newspapers say? 

  • Using the Newspaper Source news database, type in the keywords: self-disclosure and social media
  • Using the Nexis Uni news database, type in the keywords: self-disclosure and social media

Also, look at the Communications link under Subject and Research Guides for suggested resources.
 Search for articles on (facebook OR twitter OR google OR "social media") AND ("self disclosure)

What about social networks from an international and alternative point of view? 

Consider using the Ethnic Newswatch database to find materials from alternative perspectives.


Search strategy: used keywords "social media" AND "disclosure of information"
Look at results.  Select a title to open.  Look at Subject Terms, and hit the hotlink: "online social networks--security measures"

 

Assignment

Write a short review on a communication topic.*  Include a research question, 1-2 paragraphs that contextualize the question, and a list of five sources (three of these sources must be from the field of communication).  *Sample topic: How does Facebook and other social media influence self-disclosure in the development of friendships?

Keywords: social media and self-disclosure.
