Racism and Race Relations

Locating Books with Keywords

Step 1. Because racism is a broad topic, use the right side of the screen to refine your search. 

  • Start your search for books in the SXU only Catalog. Enter your keywords like this:


The search string and results can be found here.
The results are too broad.  Look at the right column titled Results for and skim until you see the category, Subject Area.  Racism is covered in many different subjects - history, literature, education, philosophy, science medicine, etc.  

  • To narrow your search, go to the category Topic and pick one of interest.

    All of the books might not be appropriate based on reasons such as age, topic, etc.  To retrieve similar books that are appropriate, go to Step 2.

Narrowing the Results

Step 2.  To narrow your search, look to the right and you will find several different ways to limit your search: format, author, subject, topic, genre, era, etc.

Look at the right column titled Results for and skim until you see the category, Subject Area.  Racism is covered in many different subjects - history, literature, education, philosophy, science medicine, etc.

Locating Similar Books

Step 3.  To find more books similar to the ones on your topic, pick interesting books and look at the assigned TOPICS for each book.  Click on the topics (search each one separately) describing your interests.
