Sociology of Aging (SOC-318-01): Research Methods

Library guide to assist in finding resources on a specific research topic. Guide includes how to create an annotated bibliography, and links to books, articles, films on aging, and more.

HOW TO FIND BOOKS AND CREATE AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY

Choose a topic to research using the Library's resources.  Find books at SXU, or borrow from I-Share.  Find full-text articles in the Library's core journals and subject-specific databases.  Read selected sources, summarize, and submit in the form of an annotated bibliography.

How to Find Books
To find books on any topic, begin at the Library Home Page: http://lib.sxu.edu/welcome.  Choose the Books link to begin: http://vufind.carli.illinois.edu/vf-sxu/Search/Home.  In the search box, use topic keywords, i.e., aging. If you want to see what is physically on the shelf in the SXU Library, go to the right hand column on the display page.  Scroll down to Location and choose Print Books.  If you know the title of a book, you can type it in the search box.  If you do not find the title you are looking for, use the drop down arrow and select I-Share Libraries.  One of the I-Share libraries may own the title and will lend it to you.
